GHOSTS

Today is a good day for Helene Alving. Her son, a painter, has come home after two decades abroad. She is about to open an orphanage in her late husband’s name — a monument, and an ending. She believes herself finally free of the past. She is wrong.

Ghosts is Henrik Ibsen at his most exact: a household built on silence, and what that silence is asked to hold — anxiety, hierarchy, injustice — all conducted under the name of duty. The past does not stay buried. It comes back speaking in the present tense.

Hoy es un buen día para Helene Alving. Su hijo, un pintor, ha vuelto a casa después de dos décadas en el extranjero. Está a punto de abrir un orfanato en nombre de su difunto marido: un monumento y un final. Cree que finalmente se ha librado del pasado.

Ghost es Henrik Ibsen en su estado más puro: un hogar construido sobre el silencio, y lo que se le pide a ese silencio que contenga —ansiedad, jerarquía, injusticia—, todo conducido bajo el nombre del deber. El pasado no se mantiene enterrado. Vuelve hablando en tiempo presente.
